Create or modify file interfaces
Network-attached storage is a file-level storage architecture that makes stored data more accessible to networked devices.
About this task
See Understanding PowerMax File for storage systems for an overview of File.
The File Interfaces can be configured without having a defined subnet on the physical ports. Instead, file interfaces can be configured with a subnet mask or prefix length.
Multiple File Interface can be created on a NAS server. Production network interfaces are used for all file protocols and services of the NAS server. Backup network interfaces are used only for NDMP/NFS backup. A device on the primary or backup node can be a virtual port or link aggregation on which the network interface is running. Gateway is an optional attribute.
Steps
- Select a storage system that supports File.
- Select .
- Select the NAS SERVERS tab.
- Select the NETWORK tab.
- Select the FILE INTERFACE tab.
- Click Create to create a file interface. Alternatively, select an existing file interface and click Modify to modify the file interface properties.
- Create: Type values for IP address, Subnet Mask/Prefix Length, Gateway, and VLAN ID. Select a value for Role.
- Modify: Select a network device on the primary node and on the backup node. Modify values for IP address, Subnet Mask/Prefix Length, Gateway, and VLAN ID.
- Click OK.
